About Great Beginnings: Legacy Park

Great Beginnings Early Education Center at Legacy Park opened in the summer of 2005 on donated land within Legacy Park in eastern Lee’s Summit. The center is home to the original Early Childhood Center program, which provides support for preschoolers with additional needs, as well as the Parents As Teachers home-visiting program, serving families with children from the prenatal stage through prekindergarten.

In August 2026, our building proudly celebrated 20 years of serving children and families in the Lee’s Summit community!

Approximately $6,000,000 of the funding for this building was raised from contributions through the Lee’s Summit Educational Foundation to build a combined Parents as Teachers and Early Childhood facility. The remaining funds came from the 2004 no-tax-increase bond issue.
